The 3.8kg baby boy was born through his mother's 16-year-old frozen embryo.

The woman had a health problem that caused her to be infertile. In 2000, she gave birth to her first baby by in vitro fertilization. She then asked the hospital to freeze the remaining 18 embryos.

After the Chinese government canceled the one-child policy, the woman returned to the hospital and hoped to give birth to a second child.

Wang Zilian, an obstetrician treating the fortunate mother, said the pregnancy in a 40-year-old mother is quite difficult. Because of her advanced age, she had some pregnancy problems such as anemia, diabetes.

Xu Yanwen, director of the hospital's reproductive center, said the risks to the fetus are very high when the mother is pregnant at the age of four. However, luckily smiled and success came to this woman.

He also said that since the beginning of 2016, after the policy of one child canceled, many women had to seek hospital temple to intervene in childbirth.

In 2016 alone, the hospital received requests from about 1,000 women over 40 who wanted children.
