The blind will also drive the car

At present, the laws of many countries in the world prohibit visually impaired people and drive cars. But there are still people who are persistently looking for ways to make cars for the visually impaired. Who are they?

They are young students of Virgina University of Technology (USA). According to them, this work is to realize their long-standing dream to protect the interests of the blind.

In 2004, the students were the only people to participate in the competition for specialized vehicles for the blinds organized by the Federation of the Blind.

Five years later, in mid July, at the United States Visually Impaired Camp, they launched a technological masterpiece - cars, or rather, self-propelled carts for the visually impaired. Vehicles equipped with lazer devices to determine the front distance, pulse and sound signal system to notify the driver of the situation to handle such as rounding to avoid obstacles , turn the car, stop car and so on

However, a technical issue that needs to be clarified is how to get traffic signals from automated signaling systems, especially those of traffic police.

However, this car is still a ' hope of a lifetime ', as the president of the Federation of the Blind, one of the visually impaired, was invited to participate in the volunteer test. Many people who are visually impaired after participating in the test drive have been quite satisfied with this test vehicle.

Greg Jannaman, the head of the young student group at Virgina Tech, designed and built a self-propelled wheelchair for the visually impaired, said optimally: " The support of the visually impaired will motivate them. I implemented the project. There is a long way to go to get the day when the visually impaired first get a driver's license. But in the magical world of modern technology, it's just a matter of time . "
