The Dead Sea is dying
The Dead Sea has become a tourist attraction for thousands of years because extremely salty seawater makes bathers never sink and is said to bring many health benefits. However, this unique sea area may be dying, dying after experts found that the sea level is decreasing by an average of 1 meter per year.

The Dead Sea, also known as the Salt Sea is located in the position of separating Israel and Jordan. Its name comes from the extremely high salt content of the water (nearly 10 times the salinity of the oceans), making it impossible for fish and plants to survive.

The Dead Sea is not a real sea, but just a lake without a way to get and pour water from some rivers. The sea surface and beaches are 429 meters below sea level, making it the lowest altitude in the world. With a depth of 304 meters, the Dead Sea is also the deepest super salt lake in the world.
Experts conducted the first measurement of the Dead Sea level in 1927. Since then, this sea level has continued to decline.
The monitoring of sea level is currently in charge of the Israeli Geological Institute. The agency used a small research float, floating in the middle of the sea to measure the depth.
Experts estimate that the Dead Sea level has fallen more than 40 meters since the 1950s. This decline is attributed to the imbalance between the amount of water flowing in and out of the sea. Specifically, the Dead Sea lost more water than the water received due to compensation from the Jordan River.
Experts also noted a decline in water flow from the Jordan River into the Dead Sea. This may be due to reduced river water used for irrigation or other uses.
Regional water resources are currently being thoroughly exploited and have a great influence on Israel, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan. Evidence of water scarcity is reflected in the revelation of many subsidence pits, cracked mud floors, destroyed trees and an abandoned abandoned water park.
