The discoverer of Viking treasure is rewarded with 2.5 million USD

A British metal detector received a generous bonus after discovering many Viking gold and silver artifacts from the 10th century.

Derek McLennan, a British metal detector, has just been awarded $ 2.5 million for discovering the Viking's biggest treasure ever, the Independent on 14 May reported.

Mr. McLennan discovered treasure from the 10th century in Scottish southwest in 2014. The treasure consists of 100 items such as bracelets, silver brooches, a gold ring, a Christian cross and a pin. in gold, the pin head sculpted a bird's figure.

Most of McLennan's artifacts were found to be made of silver, but there were also textiles and a range of precious metal jewelry judged by experts to be "outstanding and special" , including a gold compression, beads, crystals and a silver trophy are believed to be of the Eastern Roman empire.

The Scottish National Museum said the treasure was "unique" because it contained hidden objects that had never been known among humans in Europe in the 10th century.
