The extinct giant gun flower appeared in Paraguay

The giant waterlily re-emerges in a waterbreaker in Paraguay after being put on the 2006 endangered list.

The giant waterlily tree with the scientific name Victoria cruziana reappears in the confluence of the Paraguay River 25km north of the capital Asuncion, the BBC yesterday reported. The Paraguay Ministry of the Environment said in the past, this aquatic species has disappeared gradually by dredging mud and collected visitors.

Water lilies in the area have a 1.5 meter leaf diameter and special shape. The reappearance of Victoria cruziana attracted many people rushing to the Piquete Cue region in central Paraguay to take pictures and row the boat to watch the flowers.

"I have lived here since I was a child. The neighbors and I thought the giant water lily went extinct, but it came back , " said Antonio Benítez, a local resident.

Visitors of Agustin Gomez were amazed at the size of the water lily."This is a scene you can't see every day or every year. You can see the waterlily but not so much and so big. Some trees have two meters wide leaves , " Gomez said.

Locals use water lilies to make an herbal tea that is thought to help treat asthma and bronchial disorders, but authorities warn the flower pickers may be punished.
