Simonyi will conduct a series of experiments, including experiments to measure the level of radiation that he exposed while in ISS. The goal is to help build an accurate map of the radiation environment on the station.

Simonyi began training for a flight six months ago at the Yuri Gagarin Astronaut Training Center, Star City, Russia and at Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan.
