Euanthus panii is composed of petals, petals and many flower-like characteristics today, arranged in a flower-like structure of angiosperms . According to research results published in Historical Biology, the flower tree with scientific name Euanthus panii dates back to 162 million years ago.
Euanthus fossils have all the typical structures of a flower and are preserved in perfect conditions. This is one of many specimens by Kwang Pan collector in Triangle City, Liaoning province, gathered in the 1970s.
Professor Liu Zhongjian of the National Lan Conservation Center, Professor Wan Xin of the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Paleontology, said the discovery "provides a new perspective on the evolution of flowers" . According to SCMP, if their statement is correct, Euanthus panii will be the first flower plant found since Jurassic.
For more than 100 years, many researchers have claimed to have discovered flowers from the Jurassic period, but the samples do not "pass" the tests or are recognized by experts. Callianthus dilae was previously considered to be the earliest flower plant, dating back to 125 million years ago.
