Pierfilippo Cerretti, a researcher at Rome's Sapienza University, said: ' Thyreophora cynophila was first discovered in Mannheim, Germany in 1798. They disappeared and were considered extinct about 160 years ago, before they could be found again in Spain '.

Thyreophora cynophila is described as nearly 10mm long, possessing a bright orange head, metallic blue body and legs, wings with a hint of dark spots. Their favorite food is the corpses of animals and humans.

Through analysis, experts found that, unlike most other flies, they are active at night, during the winter, from October to November. Besides, they love to eat the larvae shown on the body. Scientists think they have a sensitive odor sensor that helps them find dead animals even when it is covered by snow.

The study also showed that in addition to finding Thyreophora cynophila in large animal carcasses, this fly also appears in the body, the abdomen of the corpse, the rodents are dead, rotten, rotten. Currently, scientists are still studying to understand more about the behavior of this fly.
