The future underwater city of Japan
Japanese experts introduced plans to build an underwater city model, with full construction works, houses, hotels and play areas.

The Ocean Spiral future city has enough living space for about 5,000 people.Complex areas including hotel system, residential area, commercial center will be designed in spherical structure with a diameter of 500m.
Large spheres will float on the water, but can sink under water in bad weather.Below this structure is a 4km deep spiral axis.
The spiral will form a 15km connecting road with a building built on the ocean floor. It functions as a resource exploitation and development plant, collecting metals and rare earths. Here, methane gas can be generated by converting carbon dioxide from microorganisms.
The future city project is the work of Shimizu Group, scientists at Tokyo University and the Japan Earth-Ocean Science and Technology Agency for two years.
N expert teams plan to use the difference in water temperature between surface and ocean floor to generate electricity.Underwater facilities will support transportation and research.
This model will be built from synthetic plastic materials instead of cement, 3D printers will create other components.
The project could be completed in 2030 and the total cost of Ocean Spiral city construction is about $ 25 billion
Ocean Spiral can limit the impact of earthquakes, a major threat to the Japanese people. The city also opened new hopes for areas at risk of sea level rise.
