The British Nature magazine recently published a study related to the H5N1 variant.

Research has shown that the H5N1 bird flu gene is highly contagious and fatal at a rate of about 60%.

The scientific community is quite worried about this information, because the results of the study may threaten human safety.

Avian influenza is an acute viral infection caused by poultry such as chickens, geese, migratory birds and birds infected with H5N1. People can also get this flu.

From 2003 up to now, in countries like Vietnam, Indonesia has more than 570 people diagnosed with this disease, of which 330 have died.

Professor Yoshihiro Kawaoka of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA), who led the study, said the artificial H5N1 virus gene was implanted in the body of a white weasel. Results showed that other weasels were also infected with the virus.

In mammals, white ferrets are infected with viruses through the respiratory tract just like humans. This also means that humans are more likely to be infected with the H5N1 virus variant via inhalation.
