The idea of aircraft with 3 separate cabins, turned into train cars after landing

Imagine a future when the airport is also the role of the train station, the giant planes carrying three under-cabin cabins land on the airport, the cabin is separated and "handed over" to one Nearby train, continue the journey to the city center. Instead of having to move down to the plane, then take a taxi to go to the subway or hotel, . now, the new system will allow passengers to stay on the airplane cabin and wait.

This idea, called Clip-Air , is the target of the group managed by Swiss researchers. In essence, Clip-Air is a 4-part modular aircraft . It owns 3 cabins or drills that can carry passengers, goods or fuel. In charge of carrying these 3 cabins is a giant aircraft that looks like a stealth bomber.

These cabins can be separated from the aircraft to continue the journey by road or rail, depending on the predetermined requirements. The wingspan is nearly 61 meters long, with the body half as long as that number. Each compartment can carry up to 30 tons of cargo or 450 passengers, equivalent to the transport capacity of an Airbus A320.

The group behind the idea of Clip-Air is led by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. The researchers acknowledge that this is not a concept that will soon come into practice, they say it takes 40 - 50 years for Clip-Air to become a reality.

On its website, scientists say Clip-Air is just a "exploration project to open new ideas, both about the concepts of aviation trade and the use of existing technologies," From there, it is possible to reshape thinking about future transport vehicles ".

The immediate objective of the group is to develop a prototype of the same size as a private plane, within the next 10 years. And in 10 to 15 years, they also launched a prototype of the size that could carry 150 passengers. The version with 3 cabins needs at least 50 years to be completed.
