The image of '2 suns' appeared in the sky of Hanoi

On the afternoon of March 11, an image resembling "two suns" appearing at the same time in the sky in the West Lake area (Hanoi) was shared, causing a stir with many people about this rare and strange sight.

Talking to reporters  about the image of "2 suns" , a leader of the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting commented that "this is a rare phenomenon" if the recorded image is true. However, he believes that to comment on this phenomenon, it takes time to research to get an accurate answer.

And Mr. Dang Vu Tuan Son, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Astronomy and Cosmology (VACA), assessed that the "2 suns" phenomenon in the above image is a rare phenomenon, due to a coincidence in the scattering process. and reflect sunlight.

The expert said that under certain suitable conditions during cloudy weather, sunlight when colliding with water particles and ice crystals is reflected almost completely to form an image of the sun, like as it silhouetted against a lake surface.

"This reflection continues to reflect again when encountering another layer of clouds, only a part is scattered. Therefore, this second reflection forms an image that can be seen on the ground Like a second sun" - said expert Dang Vu Tuan Son.

In July 2023, on social networks, many people also shared the phenomenon of "2 suns" hidden in clouds appearing at the same time in Sichuan (China) and received the attention of the online community. At that time, responding to the press, expert Dang Vu Tuan Son also explained that it was a very rare phenomenon, but was obviously just a purely optical phenomenon .
