The metal '2.8 meteorite' struck the ground

The meteorite-like object containing rock and metal made an explosion that ranged 2 km away when frightened by locals. 

The meteorite-like object fell on Sanchore town, Rajasthan, around 6:15 am on June 19 (local time). It made an explosion that could be heard from 2km away.

"There is a very loud noise when an object rushes down from the sky in the morning, just like an airplane falls. However, no one has seen anything falling. It took a while, people discovered. The strange object in the hole on the ground. It fell about 100 meters from my house. We immediately informed the authorities, " Ajmal Devasi, the local people, said.

The object still exudes heat after three hours of falling, making many people worried it might explode. Therefore, authorities require people to stay away from this area. "We arrived and saw the black metal mass lying on the ground. It had round edges, stabbed down to form a hollow of 12-15 cm. We waited for it to cool down and put it in a glass storage jar. Before that, they I weighed and determined it weighed 2.8 kg, " said Arvind Purohit, head of the Sanchore police station.

"Meteors" will be taken to the Indian Geological Survey Agency (GSI) for research. Geology department of Jai Narayan Vyas University also expressed interest in this object. "I asked the Jalore government to create an opportunity to study it. We used to study some meteorites. If we were to provide even a small piece of this object, we could also conduct research in 3. -4 days with my equipment and knowledge, " said Suresh Chandra Mathur, head of geology at Jai Narayan Vyas University.

He also said that this is most likely a piece of iron-stone meteorite due to the outer iron-nickel shell. Such object analysis will contribute to strengthening local research activities.
