The most expensive giant pink diamond in the world has just been found

A Russian mining company that unearthed a pink diamond could be the most expensive gem ever.

This pink diamond stone weighs 27.85 carats and was recovered by Alrosa PJSC from a sediment mine in the northwest of the Yakutia region in Russia's Far East.

According to Alrosa, the pink diamond has a special jewelry quality, without any defects. The size of the diamond measured is 22.47 x 15.69 x 10.9mm.

Until this latest diamond was unearthed, Alrosa's biggest pink gem ever found weighed only 3.86 carats.

"Alrosa company experts are currently studying this gemstone to decide to sell it as a rough diamond or cut it down" - Evgeny Agureev, head of ALROSA's Sales Organization for know in a press release.
