The mystery of the rocks knows 'childbirth' in Portugal
The huge granite block of the Freita Mountains near the village of Castanheira in northern Portugal has been a lot of curiosity because it can . give birth.
The granite on Mount Freita extracts mysterious round stones and locals call this phenomenon Pedras Parideiras , also known as 'birth stone'.
The 'mother stone' is a giant granite stone measuring 1,000 meters long and 6.00 meters wide. Its surface has small eyes shaped like convex discs with a diameter of 2 to 12cm.
Due to the effects of hot weather and corrosion, these protruding eyes separate from the "mother stone" and leave black marks on the surface.
The 'cubes' are composed of microelements like 'mother stones' , but their outer layers are covered with mica minerals.
For locals, Pedras Parideiras symbolizes reproduction. They believe that a woman can increase her chances of getting pregnant by placing one of the small stones under her pillow.
The mysterious birth rock is located in the Arouca geopark and is currently recognized as a world heritage by UNESCO.Tourists and locals are prohibited from bringing stones from this area.
A similar phenomenon occurred near Saint Petersburg, Russia, but there was not much information about the location.
