Meteorological experts said that the North is experiencing a severe cold spell from the beginning of the winter, the temperature dropped deeply causing icy phenomenon, snow in high mountains.

Due to the strong influence of cold air, the Northern and Northern Central Region has suffered widespread damage. North and North Central have small rain in some places, the Central Central provinces continue to have scattered rain.

The Northern region and the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien - Hue sky continue to be cold and cold. The high mountains are icy, there are places where there is a possibility of snowfall with the lowest temperature in the plain of 7-10 degrees Celsius, the mountains of 4-7 degrees Celsius, and the mountainous areas where the temperature is below 3 degrees C .

Talking to the PV, Mr. Tran Quang Nang, Head of the Short-Term Forecasting Department under the Central Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, affirmed that the North is experiencing a cold spell from the beginning of the year until now.The cold and cold weather lasts for many days and continues in the next 4-5 days.

According to Mr. Nang, from February 1, the mountainous provinces may no longer have snow conditions, but ice phenomenon still appears. The head of the department forecasts that in the coming days, the night temperature is still quite low, about 9-10 degrees Celsius, daytime ranges from 14-15 degrees Celsius.

Explaining the long-term cold situation, Mr. Tran Quang Nang said cold air in Siberia (Russia) expanded, overflowing into China, constantly rushing to our country.

Forecasting the situation of weather next week, Mr. Nang informed that the night temperature in the North will decrease deeply at 6-7 degrees C, causing a cold feeling, during the day it is warm and dry.

Mr. Nang emphasized that people should pay attention to keeping their body and limbs warm to avoid cold infection. In particular, he recommended strengthening anti-cold for people and livestock in mountainous areas, especially in areas with frost and snow.

Besides, the Central Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting warned on February 2, cold air was strengthened again. The cold, damaging cold spell in the North and the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien - Hue continued to last until February 5, and the high mountains were icy.
