Bashanosaurus primitivus - Asia's oldest baleen dinosaur.

It is believed to be the oldest baleen dinosaur ever found in Asia and one of the earliest excavated species in the world.

In a study published March 4 in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology, paleontologists describe the fossil remains of a plant-eating horned dinosaur, consists of the spine of the back, shoulders, thighs, feet, ribs, and some layers of hard armor. The fossil date is dated to the Bajocian period of the Middle Jurassic, much older than most known cephalopods.

According to scientists, the newly discovered dinosaur had 4 legs and was relatively small in size, with a length of about 2.8 m from the tip of the nose to the tail. This dinosaur appeared about 168 million years ago. It is not known whether this is an adult or immature dinosaur fossil.

Scientists have named the new dinosaur Bashanosaurus primitivus. "Bashan" is the ancient name for the area of Chongqing, China, where the new dinosaur was discovered, while "primitivus" in Latin means "first".
