The power plant is unique in Israel
An energy company in Israel has launched a " hybrid " power plant that combines sunlight and fuel in the south of the country and this is the first such plant in the world.
The factory is located in Samar settlement in Arabah valley of Israel. This is the first solar power plant that can provide electricity 24 hours a day. It is owned by AORA - one of the leading solar technology companies in Israel.
Haim Fride, AORA's general manager, said the factory is shaped like a yellow tulip, so it is called " Power Flower ". It has 30 large mirrors on a 0.5 hectare plot of land. Each mirror welcomes and reflects the sun's rays onto a 30-meter-high tower. On the tower has a special device to receive sunlight and turbines with a capacity of 100 KW.
The sun ray receiving device produces temperatures up to 1,000 degrees Celsius to heat the air. Hot air is then transferred to the turbine to turn the propellers and generate electricity. When not in the sun, Power Flower can produce electricity from many other fuel sources such as biogas, natural gas and biodiesel. So the factory still operates when it is cloudy or when the sun goes down.
" The size of the Power Flower factory is relatively small and the installation cost is not large. So people can deploy it in the residential community. If you want to power a larger city or area, they We can increase the number of mirrors , "Fride said.
