Russia is committed to building safe nuclear power for Vietnam
Russia will build in Vietnam a safe and advanced nuclear power plant, the head of the Russian Federation of Atomic Energy (Rosatom) confirmed in a meeting with the Vietnamese Prime Minister.
The meeting between Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Rosatom General Director, Mr. Sergey Kiriyenko, took place during the three-day visit of the head of the Vietnamese government in Russia.
According to Russian Voice, in the meeting, Mr. Kiriyenko pledged that Russia would build in Vietnam "the safest and most advanced nuclear power plant". Rosatom is a direct consultancy and construction unit in the construction of Vietnam's first nuclear power plant in Ninh Thuan.

Earlier, after talks with Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said: "We agree that we will actively cooperate in building nuclear power plants in Vietnam, to attend. development projects are on schedule, with the use of the most advanced technology to ensure the highest level of safety for the factory ".
Medvedev also expressed his hope that Vietnam and Russia could cooperate not only in the construction of nuclear power plants, but also in the formation of corresponding infrastructure.
In November 2009, the National Assembly of Vietnam approved a project to build the first two nuclear power plants in Ninh Thuan. Vietnam's first nuclear power project will consist of two plants with a total capacity of 4,000MW. As planned, Ninh Thuan I nuclear power plant will be started in 2014, and start generating electricity in 2020.
Ninh Thuan I factory will be built by Russia. To ensure that the plant is put into operation on schedule, Vietnam and Russia have many meetings to discuss the issue. The Vietnamese side affirmed its determination to make nuclear power, while Russia's representative made a commitment to ensure safety for nuclear power plants.
"Vietnam can be completely assured of Russia's nuclear safety standards. The Vietnamese reactor is unlikely to occur as at the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan," said Petr G. Shchedrovitsky, advisor of General Director of Roatom Group, confirmed in February 2012.

Another Rosatom representative, Sergey A. Boyarkin, Rosatom's deputy general director, once affirmed that Ninh Thuan nuclear power will be secured if Russian technology is used.
Regarding the worries when a tsunami earthquake occurred, the representative said, according to the initial survey, in Ninh Thuan earthquakes can occur up to 7.5 Richter scale, while the design and factory Ninh Thuan nuclear power can withstand earthquakes of level 9.
In March, the first 50 Vietnamese experts went to Russia to practice at the country's third and fourth nuclear reactors. After training, they will return to Vietnam to participate in building nuclear power houses.
Also in March, the National Nuclear Safety Council, chaired by the Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan, led the actual survey mission to build two nuclear power plants. Ninh Thuan I and Ninh Thuan II nuclear power plant in Ninh Hai district, Ninh Thuan.
