Vietnam's first nuclear power plant will be built by Russia

Ninh Thuan 1's personnel to start construction in 2014 and put the first unit into operation in 2020.

According to Mr. Tuan, because Russia owns source technology and extensive experience in nuclear power, Vietnam is negotiating with Russian partners to build the first nuclear power plant. Although not yet revealed which technology will be selected for the Ninh Thuan 1 project, Mr. Tuan said that Russia's light-water kiln technology operates very safely.

Simultaneously with the selection of partners and technology, Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Project Steering Committee is implementing a series of tasks such as infrastructure preparation, promotion of information center Nuclear power for the people of Phan Rang, preparing to implement a human resource training project for the factory .

At the end of 2009, the National Assembly approved the policy of investing in nuclear power projects. Accordingly, 2014 began to start Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Plant with 2 units with capacity of 2,000 MW and put into operation in 2020. The time of starting Ninh Thuan 2 Plant has not been determined.

This will be the most advanced, light-proven, proven and modern technology of light water kiln technology, ensuring absolute safety and economic efficiency at the time of investment project preparation. Total investment is estimated at VND 200,000 billion.

Currently, Vietnam has signed a bilateral nuclear cooperation agreement with Russia, China, France, India, South Korea and Argentina.

On 27-29 May, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry and Trade co-chaired the 4th International Exhibition on Nuclear Power at the Friendship Cultural Palace (Hanoi), with the theme "Towards the Particle Project" Ninh Thuan people ".
