The rate of women infected with HIV is increasing

According to the Ministry of Health estimates, the proportion of women living with HIV in Vietnam has doubled compared to before. Currently, every 3 people with this virus is 1 female.

Previous statistics show that among the total number of HIV-infected people detected, men account for 85%, only 15% are women. However, based on recent statistics, the Ministry of Health estimates that females account for 33% of all people infected with AIDS. Many of them are infected with HIV from their husbands and, in turn, are at risk of transmitting HIV to their children.

Children are also vulnerable to HIV. Statistics show that for every 12 people infected with HIV, one is a minor.

According to Mr. Chu Quoc An, Deputy Director of the Department of HIV / AIDS Prevention and Control, currently in Vietnam, HIV has gone out of the city and spread to all regions, up to deep areas. 50% of communes have detected people carrying the virus causing AIDS. The disease appears in most population groups such as workers, farmers, intellectuals, civil servants, students, writers and artists, ethnic minorities .

So far, propaganda for behavior change is considered the only vaccine to prevent the spread of disease. However, according to Mr. An, the communication is still formal, follows the path, is not extensive and frequent, so it cannot change high-risk behaviors in the community.
