Susan Kane is one of the nurses who tried to save Gloria on the fateful night February 19, 1994. It was Susan who noticed a layer of lubricant covering Gloria's body and the strange ammonia smell coming from Gloria's blood. When Susan tries to sample the patient's blood for testing, she notices the strange particles floating in Gloria's blood. Before she could report anything, Susan suddenly fainted. Later, Dr. Julie Gorchynski also fainted and eventually, resuscitation officer Maureen Welch began to lose control and suddenly fainted.

Strange initial catching reactions spread throughout the hospital, 23 of the 37 health workers on duty that night began with strange symptoms and five were hospitalized for treatment. Realizing the strange thing in the emergency room, the hospital management decided to isolate the disease, evacuate all the medical staff out, leaving only the best and most experienced doctors to cure. Unfortunately, at 8:45 am, Gloria Ramirez died of severe, irreversible kidney failure.

Immediately after Gloria's death, the hospital asked to check the air purification, preventing any dangerous substances from spreading. Later, they found that Gloria used Dimethyl sulfoxide as a substitute for painkillers. That explains the phenomenon of oil film covering her body as doctors conduct treatment and floating particles (a crystalline form of the drug) in Gloria's blood. However, until today, no one knows how Dimethyl sulfoxide can affect so many other people mysteriously.

Scientists believe that the mysterious medical events in General Hospital are in fact due to the fact that all of the emergency cases on February 19 suffer from "collective separation disorder" (Mass Hysteria). so imagined strange signs on the patient's body. However, nurse Susan Kane completely denied the scientists' hypothesis and believed that Dimethyl sulfoxide had turned into Dimethyl sulfate , a toxic gas. Despite this, the real cause of this strange series of events can never be uncovered.

Besides, those who believe in supernatural phenomena say, it is likely that the female patient Gloria Ramirez has been abducted by aliens and injected with strange substances into her body for testing.
