The sophisticated disguises of animals
Who would have thought that this ragged leaf was an insect. Yet that is true. The perfect disguise below may surprise you.
Leaf insects
The scientific name is Phylliidae, these leaf insects are identical to the leaves no matter how you imagine them - just to fool the enemy. They shook themselves forward - after walking to make a leaf sway in the wind. Some even have fake bites on their flanks.
Flounder
Although flounder is not brave enough to be able to win any beauty pageant, its strange asymmetric body helps the animal survive by disguising itself as a seabed. This helps it to be ignored by hungry people. Some flounder species can change pigmentation on their backs.
Rock fish
This fish happens to be one of the strongest venom underwater creatures. It contains toxins that can cause shock, paralysis or even death. For those who prefer destiny, this fish is sometimes kept as a pet or sushi maker.
Squid Cuttlefish
Considered the chameleon of the sea, this squid can quickly change its skin color to become invisible to the enemy's eyes. If the disguise fails, the animal will also spit out the ink, just like with octopus.
Manta stingray
Manta stingrays are foraging on the bottom, so naturally it easily disguises itself on the seabed. The biggest threat threatens to be sharks and eels.
Walking Sticks
Some animals use camouflage to hide their enemies. But this Indian creature likes to do it to be left alone. They are all females and can reproduce without males.
Grasshopper katydid
The members of this long beard grasshopper did not seem to want anyone to see them, but did not bother anyone who was deaf because of them. Katydid often sings and screams in the night to appeal to her partner.
Sea dragon leaves
Although not as difficult to recognize them as with other mythical sea creatures, seeing this special sea dragon is becoming rarer. They are in great danger due to environmental pollution and industrial waste. This is not the only animal that is easily mistaken for a floating seaweed branch. A species of relatives with it called grass sea dragons grows fins like seagrass.
Sea goby
Sea gobies love to hide, and it is better to stay away from them. This creature has sharp spikes and can cause itchy sores.
