The teenager accidentally picked up the extinct jaw bone 10,000 years
The jaw bone is found to be 0.7m long. According to WHOTV , a group of biologists from the University of Iowa collected this fossil and other related bones last weekend.
"When the landlord contacted and sent pictures of the fossil to us. Now I can confirm it is the jaw of a mastodon," said Tiffany Adrain from the University of Iowa.

Mastodon are members of the Mammut genus, Proboscidea, Mammutidae. They are similar, but different from twisted feather mammoths. Their favorite food is pine conifers and leaves with a leaf-like style that resembles today's elephants.
This creature is thought to be extinct 10,000 years ago as a result of hunting and killing the leading male mastodons.
According to a local newspaper, the jawbone was later identified as a baby mastodon, about 2.1m high. The identity of the farm owner couple is not published to prevent fossil theft.
According to WHOTV , the same couple 30 years ago discovered the bones of a curly-haired mammoth on their farm.
