The tiny island nation suddenly floats across the social network thanks to a duck

Have you heard of "Niue" before? If not, no one will blame you, because many people are like you, never know this name.

Niue is a tiny island nation in the South Pacific.

Niue is a tiny island nation in the South Pacific. But perhaps with the exception of New Zealanders (Niue has a political affiliation with New Zealand), no one knows that this island exists. Even if Niue became the first "WiFi country" in the world, its reputation was not much better.

But in recent days, netizens are constantly searching for keywords about Niue. This is also a topic that has been discussed quite a lot on Twitter. Why?

The cause comes from . a duck ! In particular, it's the duck in the picture below.

The duck appears on Niue island.

This is just a normal duck, but it has become a famous character of the whole island. The reason is because Niue Island has 1,600 people living, but there is absolutely no shadow of a duck alive.

In other words, this is the first "duck citizen" of the whole island, and it is named Trevor.

The island has no pond, lake or lagoon - habitat familiar to ducks, so Trevor often swims in a pond (actually puddles) near the airport. Even so, the fire station and volunteers constantly supply water so the pool will always have water, giving the duck a place to have fun.

"Everyone likes Trevor. This is a small island, and with this famous duck, everyone is interested in taking care of his interests," said Kirk Yates, Niue's representative.

But the problem is, no one knows how Trevor can "arch" the island. Niue Island is nearly 2,500 km from the mainland, so it is clear that the duck cannot naturally swim or fly.

There are many theories for Trevor's appearance. In it, the most popular idea was that he was blown away by a storm. However, some people believe that the duck jumped out of a ship that once landed in the port, and it seems that this reason is more logical.

"There was a ship parked at the port about three days before the duck appeared," said Claire Trevett, deputy editor of New Zealand Herald magazine.

There are no fellow types on the island so I seem to be very lonely. Some suggested that he bring him back to New Zealand, some wanted to bring one more female duck to his company, or make . a wooden duck.

The future of the duck is still unclear. But at least for the time being, he is still living in a puddle with the heart of a famous star.
