The title of the highest building in the world changed hands
With 555m in height, Burj Dubai tower surpassed the CN tower in Toronto Canada to become the world's most independent stand-alone project.
Burj Dubai is still under construction but with a recent height of 555m, this UAE tower has surpassed the CN television tower in Toronto, Canada to become the world's most independent stand-alone project. This tower will be even taller when completed because by this time the final height of the building is kept secret until the construction is completed by the end of 2008.
Burj Dubai is one of the superpowers that Dubai plans to build to mark the city. This building was built by Korean company Samsung.
Previously, with a height of 553m, the CN tower had occupied the title of the world's tallest independent building for 31 years, since 1976.
In July 2007, Burj Dubai surpassed Taipei 101 in Taiwan, with a height of 508m, to become the tallest building in the world.
