The United States did not detect meteorite falling in Russia

A US senator commented that the US government invested a lot of money in the program to track objects near the earth, but their devices still could not detect meteorites falling on Russia on February 15.

On February 15, a meteorite fell into central Russia, causing a loud explosion that caused many glass windows to shatter. More than 1,000 people were injured by the incident and physical damage amounted to tens of millions of dollars. Astronomers in Russia and the US did not predict the occurrence of this meteorite.

Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, vice president of the US House of Representatives' Commission for Science, Space and Technology, commented that Washington should pay attention to many issues after the meteorite crash in Russia, Space reported.

"The United States invests millions of dollars to find and track comets and meteors. But meteorite explosions in the Russian sky are smaller than what American devices can detect , " Rohrabacher said.

What worries Rohrabacher is that governments have not planned to deal with the earth attack of comets or comets.

"Therefore, even if devices detect an object about to plunge into the earth, we are not able to deflect its flight , " he commented.

The situation may change in the near future. The US House of Representatives' Commission for Science, Space and Technology has announced it will discuss measures to cope with dangerous meteorites in the next few weeks.

"Meteors are the only kind of natural disaster that humans can prevent. We have clear evidence that they are real and tangible hazards. Americans pray for Russian citizens to suffer. The effect of the meteorite on February 15, the explosion shows that we must protect ourselves and the earth before that obvious affair, " Rohrabacher said.
