The US has made a nuclear-powered aircraft project
A US government agency has designed an unmanned reconnaissance aircraft capable of operating in the sky for months through nuclear power.

Guardian reports Northrop Grumman's Sandia National Research and Development Center (NYSE: NCR) and Northrop Grumman's Northrop Grumman have developed a blueprint for a self- Nuclear power to produce electricity. With nuclear power, the unmanned flight time will increase from a few days to several months.

Sandia-Northrop Grumman research team has confirmed that the nuclear reconnaissance aircraft is capable of operating much longer and provides more information than conventional reconnaissance aircraft. In addition, their presence also helps the military significantly reduce the cost of support systems. For example, reconnaissance planes do not have to land on the ground for fuel. As a result, they can operate for long periods of time over the airspace of the enemy without being detected.
Opponents of unmanned aerial vehicles fear that nuclear-powered planes will become a major threat if they fall or fall into the hands of terrorist organizations. So they called on Sandia and Northrop Grumman to stop the research project. Sandia says the project is over and engineers have not built or tested any aircraft.
The team states that their designs will be used in the next generation of US reconnaissance aircraft.
"However, our research results will not be used in the near future due to political opposition , " the team said.
