This pain relieving patch can remain stable for 12 hours.

Basically, the patch is made up of a drug-coated polymer network inside. The team from the University of Warwick, UK and Medherant, the author of the patch, said the maximum amount of ibuprofen that the patch could hold was 30% of its weight, higher than the gel-like ibuprofen. Created previously with a maximum of 10% ibuprofen.

On the other hand, the team made sure that the amount of medication contained in the patch was stabilized, allowing ibuprofen to diffuse through the skin regularly throughout the 12-hour period. Because of this stability, it is easy to control the dose of ibuprofen given in the body, the appropriate dose and no need to supplement the day. At the same time, the patch also has a high adhesion to the skin, allowing it to be fixed in a position, flexible according to the user's movement.

According to the team, this patch will be suitable for people with chronic and local pain such as back pain, arthritis, . help them maintain their ability to relieve pain without having to regularly take medicine as before. The group hopes that the ibuprofen patch mentioned above will be officially commercialized within the next 2 years.
