There are the safest scenarios for nuclear power plants

To provide the safest scenario for Vietnam's first nuclear power plant. On December 2, in Ninh Thuan province, there was a workshop on "Safety of nuclear power plants and Ninh Thuan nuclear power project".

This is the second workshop on nuclear safety organized by Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee and Electricity of Vietnam (EVN).

The workshop has received many comments from domestic agencies as well as foreign consulting organizations.

According to Phan Minh Tuan, deputy head of the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project Management Board, nuclear power development is the first time Vietnam Electricity Group approached.

Therefore, the nuclear power program will be deployed at the same time in two projects, the Ninh Thuan 1 nuclear power project is implemented by Russian partners and Ninh Thuan 2 is implemented by Japanese partners. The parallel acceleration of the two projects not only accelerated the increase in power generation but also helped the Management Board find the most feasible options in the implementation of the two partners' projects.

Japan nuclear power expert, Mr. Hoshi affirmed, the scenario was given by the Vietnam Electricity Group to foreign consulting firms higher than the Fukushima disaster in Japan, ie taking into account the possibility of at the same time both tsunamis and earthquakes in the Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant area.

'We draw the experience from the Fukushima nuclear plant for the project in Vietnam, whereby we will raise the height of the stone foundation and ensure the power source to avoid a power outage like Fukushima. We had to survey the radius of up to 40km, both at sea and meteorology to make sure the factory was built in the most stable location. ' Mr. Hoshi said.

Representatives of Russia also affirmed: Will apply the latest technologies being deployed in Russia, besides surveying and comparing with the criteria before choosing.

Currently, the two new Ninh Thuan nuclear power projects in the period of conducting survey and exploration drilling to find the location and model of the safest construction. This caution is considered necessary after the Fukushima disaster.

The development of nuclear power not only helps Vietnam Electricity Group increase supply but also creates new power sources in a more proactive way, reducing dependence on nature. It is expected that from now to 2030 nuclear power will provide additional power for at least 10000Mgw.
