There is going to be unlimited clean energy thanks to nuclear reactions
The MIT team recorded a new record of fusion reaction pressure with the Alcator C-Mod reactor under Alcator program. The success of the fusion reaction in the Alcator furnace has opened a new path to permanent energy and is completely clean.
Fusion reaction
The fission reaction has been discovered and applied for more than 50 years, but the brother who contains the huge energy source "Fusion Reaction" is still a great mystery for scientists.
MIT broke the record for fusion reactions.
The process of fusion reaction involves the density of plasma particles, the reaction time and reaction temperature reach a certain size ("triply limit") to keep the reaction process going on continuously. Because the extremely high temperatures of plasma (30 million degrees Celsius) and the equilibrium pressure required to keep the volume at a fixed level, the pressure regulation of the plasma is a difficult challenge for scientists. .
Now with the evolution of the Alcator C-Mod reactor , MIT researchers have come closer to controlling plasma pressure. The group set a new record of plasma pressure inside the reactor with more than 2 atmospheres at 35 million degrees Celsius. The C-Mod Alcator reactor was calculated to operate for 23 years at a pressure value. Productivity and temperature have been set.
The endless energy source from the fusion reaction is waiting to be explored.
Professor Dale Maede, director of the Center for Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, said Alcador's success has taken a big step forward for nuclear science to come closer to controlling thermonuclear reactions.
Alcator C-Mod composed of a toroidal chamber (tokamak) is supplemented with a powerful magnetic field to hold super-hot plasma particles inside a circular arc chamber.
Clean energy
The new era of clean energy is about to open.
Fusion reaction is the number one candidate for clean , safe and non-polluting energy sources . Unlike the fission reaction that will produce radioactive substances, the energy source of the fusion reaction is completely non-polluting and can be reused many times. However, currently only at a primitive level, the ability to apply to generators is still being studied more closely.
The results of the Alcator program were introduced at the international conference on fusion energy taking place in Kyoto, Japan on October 17th.
