There will soon be a new vaccine against TB

After more than 80 years, a new type of TB vaccine has just been developed. Scientists at the University of Oxford, England are currently testing this vaccine in South Africa, where the deadly disease is raging.

The new tuberculosis vaccine is also becoming increasingly a concern for Western countries due to global migration and the resistance trend of this dangerous disease.

The new vaccine, known as MVA85A, is used in conjunction with the current TBG vaccine and acts as an agent to increase the prevention of this vaccine. While many other laboratories around the world are also working on developing a new TB vaccine, this is the first vaccine to be successful and tested.

Currently, Oxford University researchers are conducting the second phase of the study at the Western Cape, where 1 in 100 children are born with TB.

Dr Helen McShane, a participant in the development of a new TB vaccine, said: 'Tests have shown that the vaccine is very safe and demonstrates a high level of TB resistance, consistent with our requirements for a new vaccine against tuberculosis'.

The vaccine is currently being tested in South Africa, and if successful, a new TB vaccine will be available in the next eight years.

TB is a dangerous infectious disease with the second highest death rate in the world, just after HIV / AIDS. Each year, the disease kills about 1.7 million people. And if not treated promptly, a patient with TB infection can infect 10 to 15 others. The current status of drug resistance is increasing concerns about this disease. Currently, the United Nations and the World Health Organization have set a goal to completely eliminate TB by 2050.
