In 2020, Vietnam will produce 5 in 1 vaccine

It is expected that in the next two years, Vietnam will successfully produce 5-in-1 vaccine to be self-reliant in the supply of coordinated vaccine at low cost.

Will it be a 5 in 1 vaccine made in Vietnam?

Vietnam is in the process of converting 5-in-1 vaccines into the expanded Immunization Program from Quinvaxem to ComBE Five. This change affects the psychology of fathers and mothers more or less. However, the fact has been emphasized by epidemiologists, because Quinvaxem manufacturing company stopped producing and ComBE Five has been selected as an approved alternative and ensures the safety of vaccination like the Quinvaxem vaccine.

Vietnam has also experienced a scarce crisis of vaccine 6 in 1 Pentaxim due to changing suppliers, causing many children to be interrupted by injections. The dependence on the supply of vaccines from abroad makes Vietnam sometimes fall into a situation of lack of initiative. Therefore, Vietnam is still looking for its own way, by studying the production of 5-in-1 vaccine that is both safe and cheap.

Recently, at the seminar "Prospective research and development of vaccine for human diseases in Vietnam" by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology held in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said In two years, Vietnam will produce 5-in-1 vaccines (including diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, hepatitis B and Hib). Vietnam is conducting this vaccine study in animals and preparing to mix.

Currently this vaccine is selected as one of the products in the National Product Development Program until 2020.

According to Do Tuan Dat, Director of Vaccine and Biologicals Company No. 1, coordinated vaccine production is a difficult technology and large vaccine manufacturing companies in the world do not easily transfer technology to manufacturers. small.

Therefore, countries with small vaccine production backgrounds such as Vietnam have to dig in their own research and applications to produce coordinated vaccines.'Most important in the first step is that each vaccine manufacturer in the country must produce each component in the combined vaccine. When a successful vaccine production is achieved, it will be a premise to combine these vaccines into 5-in-1 vaccines , 'Dat said.

The premise for Vietnam to confidently produce 5 in 1 vaccine is that in recent years, Vietnam has successfully produced Hib complex vaccine to protect children from respiratory diseases, pus meningitis caused by hib bacteria. . This is considered to be the most complex vaccine, through many stages of refining. Currently this vaccine is selected as one of the products in the National Product Development Program until 2020. Mr. Dat hoped that at the end of this program, the Hib single vaccine will provide for the domestic market and export.

There will be three new vaccines made in Vietnam in 2019

Vietnam is currently one of the few countries in the region capable of producing vaccine for human disease. With a strong investment, together with a team of scientists focused on research, Vietnam has produced 10 types of vaccines for tuberculosis, measles, rubella, rotavirus, cholera, typhoid, diphtheria, pertussis , tetanus, measles-rubella ., of which 8 vaccines have been included in the National Expanded Immunization program.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thu Van said that with achievements in vaccine production in the world, Vietnam was able to export to India the vaccine for brain inflammation, exported to some countries with hepatitis A vaccine, cholera vaccine. .

In 2017, for the first time, Vietnam produced 2 in 1 vaccine (measles vaccine - rubella) on modern technology lines. This achievement adds to the impression that Vietnam is one of 25 countries in the world that can produce vaccines and is the fourth country in Asia to produce the measles-rubella vaccine.

In 2018, MR Vaccine combining rubella - rubella produced by Vietnam Research and Production Center for Vaccines and Health Products (POLYVAC) has been used nationwide for children aged 18 to 24 months in injection. expanded strain, replacing the measles vaccine - rubella imported for a long time. POLYVAC is currently preparing appraisal records of the World Health Organization so that this vaccine can be exported and currently has a number of countries such as India, South Korea . ordering imported MR vaccines.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said that in this year and 2019, there will be three more types of vaccine: seasonal flu vaccine, Japanese cell encephalitis vaccine and Vietnam's inactivated polio vaccine. Currently, these three types of vaccines are in the process of preparing the application for circulation permits.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngo Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Training (Ministry of Health), there are 22 projects, including 15 science and technology projects (currently implementing 9 projects). project) and 7 investment projects (no funding for implementation) on vaccine products for human diseases.

Among 9 ongoing science and technology projects, many projects have achieved initial results such as: Research project to develop Japanese encephalitis vaccine product on Vero cells, Phylogenetic research developing Hib vaccine products in combination, Research and develop inactivated polio vaccine products, Research and develop seasonal flu vaccine products .

Prof. Dr. Tran Dac Phu, Director of Preventive Medicine Department, said that in order to be self-reliant in vaccine supply, Vietnam is trying to research preventive products. Vaccines for human diseases will make an important contribution to achieving the Government's goal: by 2020, Vietnam will produce 12 types of vaccines and by 2030 will produce 14 types of vaccines for use in Extended vaccination program.
