Things to do during home isolation to prevent Covid-19 from spreading

After announcing 4 people positive for SARS-CoV-2, Hanoi implemented a classification procedure to isolate patients and contacts from F3.

Hanoi isolates cases from F0 to F3

Patient F0 (positive or treated as positive) is treated at Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases 2.

F1 (direct contact with positive cases) was transferred to isolation in hospitals: Dong Da, Thanh Nhan and Bac Thang long. These people are isolated on the principle of bringing to the nearest hospital, the most convenient.

Home isolation (accommodation) applies to people F2 (F1 contact) and F3 (F2 exposure) . Persons who need to be isolated at home, in the residence for 14 days after exposure to the source.

What to do when home isolation?

Should be in a separate room

The best isolated person is in a separate room. In case the family does not have a private room, the bed of the isolated person should be at least 2m away from the bed of other family members.

Quarantine rooms should ensure ventilation, regularly cleaned, limiting furniture and items in the room.

Limit contact with family members

Isolated people are restricted from leaving private rooms, limiting direct contact with family members and places of residence. These people should monitor themselves, perform personal hygiene measures, wear a mask, regularly wash their hands with soap or other disinfectant solution.

Measure body temperature, record health status 2 times / day

Every day, the quarantine person measures his / her body temperature at least 2 times in the morning - afternoon, records the results of measurement and general health status on the daily health monitoring sheet. After that, notify the commune, ward and town health workers who are assigned to monitor 2 morning and afternoon times about the results of their temperature and health situation.

Immediately notify the commune, ward or township health officer who is assigned to monitor as soon as one of the suspected symptoms such as fever, cough, difficulty breathing.

What do isolated families need to do?

For members of households, persons working, managing the residence of isolated people at home, Hanoi health sector recommends:

  1. Limit contact with isolated people, wear masks and keep a minimum distance of 2 m when contact is needed.
  2. Every day, wipe floors, tool surfaces, doorknobs with soap or disinfectant or cleaning agents.
  3. Help and support with isolated people.
  4. Notify health officials when sick people show symptoms.
  5. Support for hygiene means, soap, tools, masks for people in isolation if required.
  6. Do not organize crowded activities at home.

The first person in Hanoi infected with Covid-19 was NHN (26 years old, living in Truc Bach street, Ba Dinh district), the 17th case in Vietnam. The patient was found positive on March 6. A day later, Hanoi recorded two cases of secondary transmission from this case, a doctor and a private driver.

On the morning of March 8, the 21st patient and the fourth patient in Hanoi was announced. Patient 21 was on the same flight with Ms. N. from Europe on 2 March. All are isolated and treated at Central Tropical Hospital 2.

130 people exposed to N. and 226 people exposed to F2 area, were isolated and supervised. Hanoi has sampled 53 people, 32 samples were found negative. The Hanoi People's Committee has sent a written request to the Ministry of Health for announcement of outbreaks in the capital city.
