Successful preparation of oral Covid-19 vaccine

Tianjin University claims to have successfully developed the oral vaccine for corona pneumonia, leading to clinical trials.

Professor Huang Jinhai, head of the vaccine project, took 4 doses on his own without any side effects. The university is seeking potential partners to advance to clinical trial and production.

The oral vaccine uses saccharomyces cerevisiae , a type of beer yeast, as a "carrier" and thorn protein of the corona virus to produce antibodies against Covid-19.

Oral vaccines are produced in capsule, milk, and powder form. The team also developed core technologies for building recombinant cells, screening, protein expression and motivating fermentation. These are all very important steps in vaccine development.

Professor Huang said the oral vaccine has the ability to stimulate mucosal immunity in mucous membranes to prevent infection. This is also a potential therapy against corona virus.

"Vaccines are highly safe, convenient to use, and can be quickly produced on a large scale , " he stated.

In the next phase, Professor Huang's team will look for businesses that are eligible for cooperation and evaluation, speed up clinical trials and expand production.

Since the outbreak, China has successfully isolated nCoV and published the genetic sequence of the virus, paving the way for vaccine development efforts by many mainland scientists and around the world. But this is a complex process, requiring a lot of time and human resources. The entire process of researching and preparing a vaccine usually takes 2 to 5 years.

On February 21, Xu Nanping, China's Vice Minister of Science and Technology, announced that the first vaccine would be clinically tested by the end of April.
