Thousands of dead and dying fish fill the federal 40 highway in North Carolina, USA over the weekend, according to the Washington Post. The fish caught after the Typhoon Florence's floodwaters receded. A few days ago, the highway running through this Pender county was submerged under water and people had to use boats to move along the road.

"A storm of 76 cm water poured into our area, it was the great flood that brought the fish to where they should not have appeared" , Samantha Hardison, volunteer firefighter at the Penderlea Fire Department, the attendee cleaning fish bodies, said.

Some fish are quite large in size, enlarged to male thighs and become a threat to driving when the route reopens. Fire brigades use sprinklers to carry out work. " We can add clean up fish from the federal highways to the long list of interesting things firefighters need to experience! Hurricane Florence causes serious flooding in our area, bringing fish away from the lips. Their natural life, " Hardison said.

According to Hardison, the fire department has never experienced anything similar from previous storms and floods. " When we arrived, the scene was like an illusion. It was crazy! There were thousands of fish," Hardison said. The video recorded the work of the fire brigade was shared on social networks, attracting more than half a million views just yesterday morning.
