Tiny shrimp species can save the Earth before climate change

We all know that global warming has a huge impact on both humans and animals. But have you ever wondered what animals might have an impact on the environment?

A recent study at Stanford University showed the impact of marine species on our climate.

This study focuses on analyzing the movements of underwater organisms, to see what happens if thousands of individuals swim in the same direction? What impact does this large-scale movement have on ocean currents or the waters they swim through?

The team built large water tanks and raised a very small saltwater shrimp species, Artemis salina . This is a species of shrimp that lives in high salinity waters and has been discovered for a long time in the world - dating back to 982.

Water from the sea floor will be pushed to the surface.

They simulate this shrimp's movement on the ocean using LEDs to control them swimming up - down daily. The difference is that in the ocean environment, their swimming distance is hundreds of meters and in this experiment, they only move a few meters in the tank.

Before these shrimp began to move, scientists measured water stratification. They found that hot and hot water often floats on the surface, while water with a high salt density and lower temperature is deposited at the bottom of the tank.

However, when the shrimp started to swim, everything changed. The water at the bottom of the tank is brought to the surface, while the hotter and hotter water sinks. Scientists also discovered that these shrimps have to create a push to swim up, causing the water to be very turbulent.

What does this change mean? Very big - scientists agree. Because in nature, there will be thousands, tens of thousands, even millions of children moving at once, and they will make a difference.

The movement of shrimp species has contributed to moving cooler water to the surface and bringing hot water to the seabed. This has a significant effect on the average temperature of our planet, in a more positive direction because the temperature will decrease.

From small shrimps, the process can be greatly impacted.

Dr. Dabiri, the project leader, said ocean dynamics have a direct relationship with global climate change through interaction with the atmosphere. So this study has special significance for discovering the effects of animals on our Earth environment.
