Tomorrow (8/10) Vietnam see the phenomenon of blood moon

On the evening of October 8, Vietnam will have the opportunity to observe the total lunar eclipse for the second time of the year. This phenomenon also happened when the moon was dyed red and the most beautiful.

According to NASA's calculations, except for Europe, Africa and a small part of Asia that are not observed, the remaining regions can observe the lunar eclipse this time, especially in the North American North, Australia and east Asia.

In Vietnam , the half-moon eclipse (penumbral eclipse) begins at 15.15 when the moon enters the shadow of the dark half of the Earth, but the half-moon eclipse will be very difficult to recognize because the Moon is only slightly darker than normal. The time should be observed at 4:14 , when the Moon enters the shadow of the Earth, beginning the partial eclipse, the color of the Earth's shadow on the Moon will gradually shift from black to gray. Reddened when the shadow area grew.

Total eclipse begins at 5:25 and the entire moon will turn red. It reached its peak at 1754, also when the Moon was dyed with the best red color, so this phenomenon is called "blood moon".

Viewers continue to observe the full lunar phase until 18h24. Then the Moon will gradually exit the dark area, the color will return to normal until it leaves the shadow area completely at 1934 and ends part eclipse.

According to Mr. Dang Tuan Duy, HCMC Amateur Astronomical Club (HAAC), Vietnam is convenient to observe partial eclipses ; while the full phase is harder to observe due to the weather and the Moon's position is very close to the eastern horizon and about to grow.

"This time it is always very cloudy because it is the rainy season in Vietnam, the weather is unstable and the total eclipse ends at 18h24, the Moon only reaches 11 degrees above the horizon, so it is difficult to observe Being eclipsed at the full stage, " Mr. Duy said and advised viewers to stay at the empty observation position in the east and less horizon.

This is the second lunar eclipse of the year. Last time it took place on May 14-15, but Vietnam was not observable. According to experts, when observing the lunar eclipse, viewers do not need eye protection devices but can use the naked eye. But if using binoculars and small telescopes will clearly see the red surface of the moon.

What is the real moon?

The Earth is illuminated by the Sun and also blocks light rays from the Sun, creating a dark area that extends in space. The moon circled around the Earth so it could "go" into this dark area. At this time the Moon is no longer directly illuminated by the Sun, so it is not as bright as usual.

The dark areas created by the Moon are divided into two regions, the midnight (penumbra) and the dark (umbra) regions. If the Moon is in orbit around its Earth entering the midnight region, the half-moon eclipse will take place, if the Moon enters the shadow area, there will be a full or partial eclipse.

Because the orbital plane around the Sun's Earth and the orbit of the Moon's Earth is tilted at an angle of more than 5 degrees, the lunar eclipse occurs infrequently. If these two planes overlap, there will be a monthly and a lunar eclipse each month.
