Traffic lights alert people to 'addiction' to cell phones
The city of Concepción in southern Chile has just launched a project to install a traffic light warning system under the road for people addicted to mobile phones.
These people, when crossing the road, rarely take their eyes off the screen, so they are very dangerous.

According to the newspaper Nación, this light system is installed in front of the pedestrian crossing , only two colors green and red, connected to traffic lights at the traditional pole.
In announcing the decision, mayor Álvaro Ortiz said the initiative aims to reduce accidents for students. If proven utility, this solution will be replicated at the intersection of the city.
However, Ortiz acknowledged that the technology solution never solved the problem and called on people to work together to raise awareness of the signal.
Concepción was the first Latin American city to implement this initiative. Prior to this, this type of lights were installed in Spain's Salamanca, Bodengraven-Reewijk in the Netherlands, Augsburg in Germany and Sydney in Australia.
