TV allows viewers to 'grab' people on the screen
Imagine, you would be able to 'tap' into the TV and grab the items that appear on the screen.
Scientists claim that the idea of this super-interactive TV technology could be realized in the very near future.
According to DailyMail, a communications student named Jayne Vidheecharoen Design Art Institute of California has designed successful TV models capable of turning real hand viewers into virtual arm on the screen.
In the experiment, the backdrop of the main screen is the Google Streetview map service. By putting his hand behind the TV, Jayne was able to manipulate the virtual hand so that it moved the virtual objects on the screen as desired.
In the movie 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', the character Mike Teevee turns into a million pixels, shrunk and locked into a TV screen. Jayne's model is far from reaching that prospect, but she says her device can connect to the Internet. That means the virtual space inside the TV will be shared with other viewers.
'Google Streetview is a magic circle, a public space of the virtual environment where time is condensed. However, many of its potential has not yet been reached, literally , "Jayne said. "I want to blow life into that world, activate that space so that it can transform and serve the very needs of every user."
And contrary to the thought of many, Jayne does not mobilize the latest technology for his invention. In contrast, the components and materials that she uses are cheap and not necessarily hi-tech. It could be 'sponges, magnetic tapes, desk lamps, desk screens, borrowed screens and the cheapest webcams possible,' Jayne said.
Jayne, however, is looking forward to improving his TV model and believes the invention has great commercial potential. Currently, Jayne has received funding for his project through Kickstarter, a website that publishes innovative projects and allows members of the site to fund the development of these projects.
