Ultra-accurate thermometer
Physicists at the University of Adelaide say they have created a thermometer capable of accurately determining room temperature at a rate of one-thirty millionths of a degree.

Professor Andre Luiten says the thermometer can measure extremely low temperatures, near absolute zero.
To measure such a thermometer using two red and green light is implanted on a high gloss crystal disc. The temperature of the crystal affects the value at which two types of light go through to determine the ambient temperature. This technology is detailed in the new issue of Physical Review Letter.
Prof. Andre Luiten says he and his colleagues believe that the same technique could be perfected to record other super-sensitive measurements, such as pressure, humidity, and micronutrient concentrations. ... This will be a revolution in industry and health, where micronutrients are of great importance to the formation of the product.
