The Indonesian Technology and Application Assessment Authority (BPPT) has developed a new type of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

Head of BPPT Gusti Muhammad Hatta said the aircraft was named Wulung , which completed testing in November 2012 and will be operational this year. According to Gusti, Wulung is designed to be very sophisticated and more special than many other UAVs.

Wulung's main function is to detect forest fires and to participate in fire fighting. It can operate continuously for 4 hours and make artificial rain, the range of 70km, speed of 92-146km / h, control of 73km. Non-water firefighting firefighters use a new material called 'pleer'. One kilo of pleer effect is equivalent to 1 ton of water, Wulung can carry 8 kg of this material when participating in fire.
