Use a diagnostic phone

Experts say the microprocessor chip can be attached to a smartphone and detect the tumor within an hour. This chip, called microNMR, uses magnetic nanoparticles to measure the amount of protein and other chemicals inside the tumor. Instead of a fairly painful biopsy, the diagnostic tool provides quick results, and the patient simply delivers less tissue.

In the report on the journal Science Translational Medicine, doctors Jered B.Haun of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston said the smartphone chip-microNMR, experts diagnose of 44 of the 50 people, with accuracy of 96%. This chip results in 60 minutes, while traditional biopsy takes 3 days or more, with an accuracy of just 84%. People diagnosed have an average age of about 64, and are suspected of having tumors in many different organs, including the lung, colon, pancreas, liver and breast. When testing another group of 20 patients, the microchip gave 100% accuracy.

In the future, experts predict that the new chip could be used extensively to identify all kinds of malignant tumors from within to those outside the patient's body. They also said microchips could be marketed at reasonable prices to fit a large number of patients.
