The dog named Maggie is descended from the famous hunting dog in Germany. She began searching for tiger shoots at Seima Biodiversity Conservation Area last week. Men Soriyun, the conservation project manager, said: 'Usually dogs can detect odors in a wide range. So we use Maggie to look for tiger signs. '

Experts from the Wildlife Conservation Society (USA) claim that in Cambodia's tropical forests, there are still a lot of tigers, but they do not know the exact number. They will buy another dog from Russia to bring to the Seima sanctuary later this year.

Previously tigers lived throughout Asia, but now they only appear in some areas of Southeast Asia, China and Russia's far east. According to the Wildlife Conservation Association, 200 years ago, about 200,000 tigers still roamed in Asia. Hunting, the decline in forest area make their number only about 5,000.

In 2006, the association set up a program called "Tigers Forever" with a grant of $ 10 million, the goal of the program is to increase the number of tigers by 50% in some regions in Asia for 10 years. The use of dogs to sniff for tiger is part of the program.
