Since the first flight in December last year, the DHL carrier's unmanned aerial vehicle has been adjusted to perform this task. The team has optimized aspects such as flight time, flight distance, and speed to address the specific challenges posed by wind and weather conditions in the North Sea coast.

'DHL's second generation unmanned aerial vehicle is one of the safest and most reliable flying systems in its class, meeting the technical requirements for this mission. " said Jurgen Gerdes, executive director of the E-Commerce Post Office, Postmaster Deustche Post DHL.

The unique trial project at Juist Island will soon be launched in the near future. Unmanned aerial vehicles depart from Norddeich harbor, landing on an airport dedicated to equipment on Juist Island. During the flight, unmanned helicopters are continuously monitored by an underground mobile station in Norddeich so that manual intervention can occur immediately if a fault or emergency occurs. Ground stations also maintain contact with air traffic control personnel. At 50 meters above sea level, the aircraft can reach speeds of up to 18m / s depending on wind speed.

The flights will transport the drug from the mainland to Juist Island at certain times of the week and at weekends. This delivery method is primarily used when other means such as ferry and airplane are not operating and in remote areas or in emergency situations.
