Video: ASIMO robots play football with President Obama

The ASIMO smart robot yesterday demonstrated the skill of playing football with US President Barack Obama, during his visit to Japan.

ASIMO bowed and raised its hand to President Obama when he visited the Japan National Museum of Science and Technology (Miraikan). In a short conversation with Mr. Obama, ASIMO said: "Hello Mr. President. I am ASIMO, a smart robot like a human. I am very pleased to meet you."

ASIMO demonstrates the warm-up, running movements that show the skill of kicking and jumping with one foot to celebrate. According to BBC, after some passes with ASIMO, Mr. Obama praised the robot with the skills to kick the ball very impressively and skillfully. However, the president said: "Robots have something scary because they are too similar to humans".

Japan's Honda Company started studying ASIMO since 1986 based on the principle of two-legged motion. ASIMO was first introduced in 2000. This is the only generation of human-like robots in the world (with both hands and feet) that can walk independently and up and down stairs, very necessary characteristics set to help people.
