Video: Create a portrait of President Obama with a 3D printer
The copy of US President Barack Obama is designed and perfected with high-precision 3D printing technology.
The portrait of the US president was recorded by Smithsonian Research Institute experts with a system of light scanners and cameras in the light of 50 custom LEDs. This is the process of modeling and recording the exact characteristics of Mr. Obama's face.
According to UPI, the scans are then inserted into the computer. After the processing process, 3D printers create the final product as Obama's bust. The first 3D printed bust of an American president is now on display at the Smithsonian Institute headquarters.
"This is a combination of the digital world and the physical world, allowing students and businesses to go from concept to prototype in the blink of an eye," said Tom Kalil, official of the Office of Science Policy and Technology of the White House, said.
