Video: How deep is the ocean?
The Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean, which is considered the deepest in the sea, has a depth of 11,034m.
The ocean accounts for about two-thirds of the Earth's surface.
According to Thinking Humanity, the ocean occupies about 2/3 of the Earth's surface area. The average depth of the ocean is 4,267m. If a normal oxygen tank is used, humans can only dive to a depth of 40m.
Many large animals, such as blue whales, are able to swim down to a depth of 500m. The sun shines up to 1,000 meters below sea level. At greater depths, darkness almost covers all.
