Video: Red light pillar stands in the sky of Russia

The bright red vertical band appeared after the setting sun caused many people to witness it in Russia.

The light column may originate from the light of the Moon, electric light, or the Sun.

The sight shot directly into the sky was recorded by a resident in Tyumen, Russia, Newsflare reported on January 10. After the Sun set, the bright column appeared to create an impressive scene before fading and disappearing.

The light column is an optical phenomenon in the atmosphere , seen in the form of a vertical strip of light that appears to emit from a certain light source. This phenomenon occurs due to the reflection of light from many small ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere or clouds.

The light column may come from light of the Moon, electric light, or the Sun, usually when the Sun is near, even under the horizon.In this case, the light column will be called the solar light.
