Journey to find immortality

Currently in the population longevity rankings, Russia stands at 130th rank with male lifespan. As for women - Russia ranked 100. A little higher in this ranking is India. But life extension experts say that in the near future, such a rating will not have any meaning. Because the length of human life can be increased.

At the Moscow State University (MGU), there was a new lab not long ago, where experts tried to manufacture aging medicines. Most scientists in the world now agree with the general theory of aging - over time, free radical elements will kill us. The human body breaks itself, just because we simply breathe every day , the MGU research leader, Maksim Skulachev explains.

'In humans, every cell has a small organ. It is mitochondrion - the organelle that is common in eukaryotic cells with double membrane and its own genome. Mitochondria are considered the energy centers of cells, converting organic substances into energy during respiration. But at the same time there is a small percentage of oxygen turned into a poison. And the older people get, the more mitochondria can produce toxic toxins. '

To synthesize the future medicine for aging, on the basis of research by Moscow University, a chemical factory was established. Operating funds are funded by private investors interested in immortal prospects. And Russian scientists are the first in the world to successfully acquire substances that can rejuvenate human eyes.

As usual, scientists conduct experiments first with mice. A group of rats were fed with a drug that stopped the production of free radicals. The control group consisted of mice fed a special diet with food designed specifically for astronauts. It turned out that the mice that received the anti-aging medicine lived nearly twice as long compared to forty in the 'space aristocracy' condition. And furthermore, mice in group I were significantly more active.

There is another way to extend life, as now Russian experts are focusing on research. Not far from Moscow, there are facilities to recreate the damaged tissues of the human body. Recycled materials are derived from stem cells. It is a kind of universal building material, in adult organs used to heal damaged or aging organs.

But the rejuvenation cycle of stem cells is not cheap at all. The amount for a surgery could be up to 15 thousand dollars. Therefore, it is easy to understand that customers who choose the 'perfect old man' must be rich.

However, scientists specializing in gene and cell research are nonetheless alerting honestly: even when our bodies are young and seemingly permanent, their weaknesses will still be in head. At the moment no one knows, is the brain capable of receiving information during the 120-year-long process or longer? Most likely, by then the human brain would simply be bored of immortality.
